The Winds Weddings Go International

The Winds Weddings have had a wonderful spring and summer. Mother Nature has been our friend all season and we have had beautiful weather for every ceremony.

Our couples and their families have originated from Wisconsin to Virginia and New York to Florida and all points in between. However, The Winds Weddings went international during the first week in August!

We started the month off with Matt Martin and Eva Markovska’s ceremony on Sunday, the 1st. Eva is a native of Bulgaria.

We were delighted to have her parents, brother and cousins, who traveled the great distance to join them.

For the ceremony, the flower girls and ring bearer were dressed in native Bulgarian wedding attire. Guests were treated to two Bulgarian traditions at the reception.

The first was the placing of a vase on the floor that contained 2 roses, one red and one white. The bride kicks the vase and the flower that lands the fartherest away will signify the sex of their first child – white for a boy and red for a girl. Following the kicking of the roses, the bride and groom stood back to back, holding a loaf of homemade bread and broke the bread in to two pieces. The one with the largest piece of bread with rule the house. The mothers gave of them each a piece of the bread dipped in salt so as a family, they can overcome difficulties in life and honey-so that their life is as sweet as the honey.

On Wednesday, Cheryl and Miguel Mendoza, traveled from Switzerland to gather with their family and friends for a reception celebrating their marriage. In attendance were family and friends from the Phillippines, Canada and Barbados.

Monday, August 9th, Doryan Algarra and Elaine Walton were married on the beach. Doryan and his family are originally from Columbia, South America. Elaine is a native of England and her family lives in Newcastle, England.
