My fiancee Tim and I had been planning an October wedding for a number of weeks, and were trying to put down a deposit with one of your competitors when suddenly they became unresponsive. Deciding that we could no longer deal with ambiguous information and unresponsive vendors, we decided to pursue other venues. That led us to consider The Winds. After my 3-week frustration and deep disappointment with the first venue, I feel determined to express appreciation for those who aspire to the same standards for excellence that I do.
With Mel and Kim, we had an entirely positive experience. As I told them in an earlier email, Mel and Kim were wonderful in terms of quick response and concrete, detailed information. Kim got the ball rolling with an immediate response to my telephone request for initial information while Mel was taking care of other clients; Mel followed up promptly and professionally. As someone who consults in marketing and business development, I found Mel’s follow-up phone call refreshing after the experience with the previous vendor. Because of Mel’s proactive follow-up, I felt unconcerned when we discovered a computer glitch hadn’t delivered her initial proposal as she intended. Her well-organized follow-up strategy helped me trust our event would be in good hands even with the inevitable glitches (and that’s just good sales).
Again, as I told Mel, I like to give credit where it’s due–customers are often quick to complain, but well-earned positive feedback is far more constructive. Mel and Kim seem like a proactive team committed to prompt and thoughtful customer service. Mel’s follow-up and updated quotes impressed upon me that she listened carefully to my needs, and made every effort to deliver on those. Congratulations on finding a team that I imagine will generate revenue and promote positive buzz for The Winds.

We got married at The Winds on August 6, 2011. Mel and her staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect and it was! Mel started working with us about a month prior to our wedding and she didn’t miss a beat! She was very responsive and made sure everything was perfect for our big day! I wish to share my recent experience at The Winds. This is not something I have ever been moved to do before, and I hope you value this feedback.
My daughter Sarah and her husband Abram were married on September 17, 2010 at The Winds. The event was everything my daughter hoped for, and therefore, it was also everything I had hoped for her to have/experience.
The engaged couple initially connected with The Winds and reserved their date. They were intending to move to the area from Rochester, New York. Long distance planning followed, and the wedding planner made herself available for many telephone calls, questions, and assurances. Plans fell through, however, due to unforeseen circumstances. Sarah and Abram were no longer intending to relocate to North Carolina. The couple were quite on-the-fence in regards to changing the wedding venue – asking guests to travel from around the country to attend, now knowing that they would not be moving, but also complicated with their desire to marry on the beach at The Winds.
Ultimately, my daughter and son-in-law said, “Thank you; everything was perfect.”
The food was OUTRAGEOUSLY delicious — above and beyond what we dared hope for! Our bartender was enormous fun and added so much to the evening, as did our d.j. The photographer did an outstanding job; the best any of us have ever seen. We are so fortunate!

My husband and I got married at The Winds September 17, 2010 and the only way to describe our overall experience is phenomenal! The Winds offers the most beautiful ceremonies right on the beach and the reception we chose was a elegant white tent on theie back deck. Every detail was perfect: the food, the decor, the staff and the overnight accomdations. If you are looking for a picture perfect wedding at a affordable cost this is the place!

My daughter’s wedding was on the beach at The Winds on September 18th, followed by a reception on the Island Oasis Deck. On our first visit in August, 2009, we met with the wedding planner. Being 5 hours away, the wedding planner’s expertise, availabiity, and positive attitude resulted in a fun weekend and beautiful day for my daughter and son-in-law. All of our 80+ guests were greeted by friendly staff who were more than willing to accommodate our many requests. My son-in-law summed up our feelings at the reception, “…this has been the most wonderful day.” Thanks!

We were married at The Winds on July 28, 2010. Coming from out of town (PA), we were a little nervous when booking and making all the wedding arrangements from home. What a wonderful surprise when we arrived! Everything for our 40 guest beach wedding went off without so much as a hiccup!
The DJ was awesome! He set up his special equipment on the beach for our ceremony, which made it so much more special than we could have imagined. He rocked out the reception and kept the party going for hours! He even let my new groom close out the night to his favorite karoake song!
The minister were amazing as well! He gave us some great pointers when we mentioned that we really wanted to include my 3 children in the ceremony. We did a sand ceremony as well, which I would HIGHLY recommend if you are thinking of having a beach wedding…. especially if there will be little members of the wedding party involved!
The florist did an amazing job with my flowers! They even created pins with the fresh hot pink gerber daisies for our hair! She was so nice to go as far as dropping them off to me and my girls at the hair salon.
Everyone at The Winds was super friendly and did a fabulous job of making our special day care free for us! We stayed in one of the the Jasmine Suites which I would highly recommend for any couple that will be having a beach ceremony at The Winds because it overlooked the beach and our “altar”! I was able to sneak a peek at my guests and even my groom without being seen!
If you are planning a beach wedding, you can feel confident that The Winds will make your wedding what you have always dreamed of!

We had our wedding at The Winds Resort and we couldn’t have made a better choice. All of the staff and local vendors that were recommended were wonderful and made our special day one to remember. They made everything easy and stressless!! The accomodations for our wedding party were perfect – lot’s of room and very convienient for our guest. We will continue to visit the The Winds Resort on our anniversaries in the future.

My Husband and I fell in love with the Winds the first time we visited July 2009. We booked a date for our wedding on our first visit! The next year the wedding planner helped us with all the ins and outs of our big day! She was so helpful and made us feel so relaxed about the “Big Day”! “We got married at The Winds in September. There is no other place in the world I would have been married. It was breathtaking. Everyone at The Winds was wonderful and we had the best time. By the time that we got to the hotel everyone knew we were getting married there and made us feel so welcomed and special. When we arrived our room had two beautiful champagne glasses and a nice bottle of chilled champagne. All of our 25 guests that came with us were treated wonderfully and even some that showed up at the last minute were treated with high regard. “We had our daughter’s wedding day at “The Winds Resort” on October 3rd, 2009. Everything went great. We stayed at The Winds two nights with a lot of other guests, got together Friday night before the wedding for our daughter & her fiancée’s bridal shower in the house we rented with The Winds. The next day was the wedding. The weather was beautiful, the bride was beautiful and we had a great ceremony on the beach. After the ceremony, we had the reception under the house we rented with catered dinner, the DJ and dancing. The day and the evening went great thanks to our coordinator and others involved.
That’s not all, after the reception, our daughter and her new husband jumped in the ocean in their wedding clothes and the wedding party followed. It was so funny and made for some great pictures.

My wife and I were married at The Winds on June 6, 2009 and it was a day we will never forget. The way the beach sounded as my wife walked through the sand towards me, the bamboo poles and ocean as the back drop, we couldn’t imagine a more perfect setting. The Winds recommended a Pastor to us for the wedding and he was wonderful. We rented one of the larger cottages and held the reception underneath the cottage. All of the staff went above and beyond are expectations, they brought beautiful plants, and helped set up lights that really made everything look great. Everyone we met and dealt with at The Winds was a joy, most of The Winds Wedding Planner/Organizer. She was beyond great, without her our wedding would not have been nearly as enjoyable. We had a good number of our friends and family make the trip to The Winds for our wedding and all of them told us it was the most beautiful wedding they have ever seen.
